What Are the Seven Deadly Sins?

Greed is an excessive desire for material possessions or wealth. Jesus warned, “You cannot serve both God and money” (Matthew 6:24). - Lust
Lust distorts God’s gift of love and sexuality by turning it into selfish pleasure. It reduces others to objects of gratification. - Gluttony
Gluttony is overindulgence, especially with food or drink. It reflects a lack of self-control and a focus on worldly satisfaction over spiritual discipline.
Biblical Roots of the Seven Deadly Sins
Although the Bible doesn’t list the seven deadly sins in one passage, the foundation for each can be found throughout Scripture. Proverbs 6:16–19 mentions “six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him”, which overlaps with this list. The Apostle Paul also wrote often about sinful behaviors believers should avoid (Galatians 5:19–21).
